Strengthen reading comprehension by practising strategies to understand literary, informational and graphic texts; identify main ideas, supporting details and implied meanings

Develop writing skills through planning, drafting, revising and editing a variety of text forms such as summaries, opinion pieces, letters and reports; apply grammar, punctuation and spelling conventions

Use research and critical thinking skills to locate and evaluate information; integrate ideas from diverse sources and avoid plagiarism by citing sources appropriately

Build test-taking and time-management strategies for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test; set personal goals and reflect on strengths and areas for improvement in reading and writing
